This isn’t a ranking of every lock on Amazon. We took thirteen products people actually search for — Diamond D-locks, Gold D-locks, one Gold folding lock, and two New York chains — and wrote each one up against the same questions: grade, fit, weight, and whether you’ll carry it.
Start with the group that matches the grade on your policy. Then read the verdict, not the name. A Diamond lock left at home protects your bike less than a Gold lock you take with you.

Sold Secure Diamond D-locks
For higher-value bikes and policies that name Diamond. The Seatylock Mason 140 is Pedal Cycle Diamond at about 0.97kg with a compact 140 × 85 mm locking area (mount sold separately — confirm e-bike grade on Sold Secure). The X1 is ordinary-bike and e-bike Diamond at 1.7kg with a 101 × 197 mm locking area, carried in a bag on the listing. The Pitbull STD is Diamond with a frame mount (1.44kg, 115 × 230 mm); the DT is that lock plus a cable that isn’t graded; the LS is the long 115 × 292 mm sibling. The D1000 is the compact anti-grinder lock (1.93kg, 92 × 155 mm, no clip) — only if you’ve measured the stand. The DX1000 is the larger Hiplok (2.75kg, 112 × 205 mm, no clip) for e-bikes and cargo when 155 mm won’t close. The ABUS 540 is the long 300 mm shackle for posts a Mini can’t close around; for e-bikes the grade is Gold.

For the many UK household policies that still name Gold. The Evolution Mini-7 is the straightforward choice for a weekday commute when Gold is enough: 1.61kg, a frame clip, and a cable in the box — the cable isn’t Gold. The Bordo 6500K is useful when you need Gold with more folding reach than a Mini and you still want the lock on the bike (120 cm, 2.47kg, SH bracket). The New York Mini is 18 mm thick and 2.06kg, with no clip; most weekday riders are better served by the Mini-7.

Chain for home and extra reach
The New York 1410 is 100 cm of 14 mm chain at 4.9kg. Use it at home, in the garden, or on a post a D-lock can’t reach. It’s too heavy for a daily commute. Pair it with a D-lock you actually carry. The New York 1415 is the same chain at 150 cm and 6.92kg, for two bikes or an anchor that 100 cm won’t reach. Sold Secure lists both as Diamond for ordinary bikes and Gold for e-bikes.
